Book of Demas 3:16 (New Covenant Translation)

And he said, A certain man had two sons:

And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.

And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

And he lay there close unto death, and could not remember the face of his father.

It came to pass that a merchant gave his father news of his son and of his plight.

And the merchant said to the father, Sir, shall I take some of your servants, or your older son, and go to your younger son and bring him home to you, where you will kill the fatted calf and fall on his neck, and kiss him?

And the father said to the merchant, No, I respect my son’s sovereign free will. Though my son is dead, and is lost, though I have compassion, yet let him fill his belly with the husks that the swine do eat.

If he chooses to come home to me, I will kill the fatted calf. But until he turns around and comes home, I cannot help him. For he has chosen to reject me, and I am just.

And the father said, I still have my other son. And they began to be merry.
